Project Scale and Fabrication Scope
Phase one of the BYD industrial park comprises 12 factory buildings with an approximate gross floor area of 141,900 m². Current case records list approximately 15,000 metric tonnes in Jiangxin's structural-steel fabrication package. This figure describes the fabrication and supply package covered by the case; it should not automatically be read as the total steel tonnage for the park or as responsibility for all design, construction and erection work.
Break the Production Plan Down by Zone
A large industrial park normally contains several buildings, grid zones and site programmes. The production schedule therefore needs to divide the bill of materials by building, zone, member type and delivery batch. Material procurement, cutting, fit-up, welding, straightening, inspection and coating can then be aligned with those zones. This preserves batch efficiency while reducing the risk that shop output arrives in the wrong site sequence.
Repeated Members Still Require First-Article Approval
Industrial buildings often use repeated welded built-up H-sections, columns, beams and brace members. Repetition does not remove the need for verification. The first article should confirm material, section dimensions, hole groups, connection plates, welds, piece marks and coating interfaces. After approval, fixtures, CNC programmes and inspection datums can be replicated across the batch. A design revision should stop the affected batch until version control is complete.
Consistency Controls in Batch Fabrication
- Material traceability: material heats, piece marks and inspection records remain linked.
- Fixture datums: repeated members use stable fit-up fixtures and measurement datums.
- In-process inspection: key checks are placed before welding and coating to limit batch rework.
- Status segregation: accepted, pending, repair and revised members are stored separately and identified clearly.
Piece Marking, Coating and Phased Delivery
Piece marks should correspond with fabrication drawings, erection drawings, packing lists and site zones. Before coating, connection surfaces, holes and field-weld areas need the specified protection. Surface preparation and DFT are checked against the project coating specification. Shipment lots are then arranged around the erection sequence so that the columns, beams, bracing and connection items needed first can arrive together.
The Delivery Logic for a Large Industrial Park
Batch fabrication is not simply a daily-tonnage exercise. It is a system for maintaining repeat-member consistency, preserving traceability by shipment lot and synchronising the fabrication rhythm with the site erection plan. Final tonnage, coating system, inspection level and delivery responsibilities remain subject to the contract, approved drawings and project quality documents.
