Turn Project Requirements into an Executable Delivery Checklist

Before overseas shipment, delivery requirements should be extracted from the contract, approved drawings, coating specification, inspection and test plan (ITP) and packing requirements. The checklist should identify the surface preparation grade, coating system, dry film thickness (DFT), uncoated areas, piece marking, packing method, transport envelope, document language and release points. A factory capability must not be treated as evidence that the corresponding standard applies to every project.

Surface Preparation and Coating Inspection

Jiangxin has shot-blasting capability and can provide surface preparation grades including Sa 2½ where specified. The actual project should define surface cleanliness, surface condition and environmental limits before coating. Primer, intermediate coat, topcoat, number of coats and DFT are governed by the approved coating specification; a fixed three-coat system or fixed thickness should not be assumed.

Piece Marks, Shipping Marks and Traceability

Each shipping member should retain a legible piece mark linked to the fabrication drawing, inspection record, packing list and erection drawing. Approved shipping marks may include the project number, case or bundle number, destination, weight and lifting instructions. Because coating, strapping and outdoor storage can obscure identification, marking positions and protection methods need to be planned.

Packing and Container Loading

The packing plan should consider member length, centre of gravity, lifting points, coating protection, end plates and bevel protection, plus the limits of container or breakbulk shipping. Loose items, connection plates and fasteners should be segregated and listed. Long members require suitable dunnage, separation and restraint points. The container loading plan should also check individual weights, weight distribution, unloading sequence and conditions at destination.

Phased Shipment Aligned with Site Demand

Shipment lots should, where agreed, align with site zones and the erection sequence. This avoids burying early-use members under later material or delaying critical connection items. Each shipment lot needs its own packing list and release status, with a controlled process for shortages, replacement items and revised members.

Quality Dossier and Responsibility Boundaries

A typical quality dossier may include mill test certificates, material traceability records, dimensional inspection reports, NDT reports, coating inspection records, release notes and packing lists, subject to the contract. The fabricator can provide fabrication, inspection, packing and loading records within the agreed scope. Customs clearance, ocean freight, destination handling and site erection responsibilities must be confirmed separately under the contract and agreed Incoterm.
